There aint nothing in life that I can't achieve

So I got obsessed with Bassnectar's Boombox while mopping the Java venue with James haha. I just discovered this other version on my computer.. my new favorite.

Check it our bassheads.

Do yourself a favor, see Phish this summer.

Although I am advising all to see Phish this summer, I am not going to Superball [Phish Festival at Watkins Glen]. Sigh. But I did see them at Darien Center 6/8. Although the crowd and well that venue were not favorite, there is no doubt that Phish is tighter than they have been in a long time recently. I cannot even explain it. Although there were other highlights like Limb by Limb, Harry Hood, Lifeboy, 2001, and an incredible Wolfman's Brother and 46 Days, the song "Theme from the Bottom" really stuck out for me that show. Mike and I ran to grab more water at some point and were about to sit on the lawn for a song and find some Javatars, when you hear those first six notes on the piano. Mike and I looked at each other like... nevermind... and sprinted back to the pavilion.
The song is refreshing and came together as the day slowly was coming a close. The song honestly reminds me of friends that come and go in your life and the necessary crossroads that you approach as you wander.
It is off one of the first Phish albums I ever heard, Billy Breathes. This is a great album to listen to at night doing something productive or on a long car ride.

I feed from the bottom, you feed from the top
I live upon morsels you happen to drop
And coffee that somehow leaks out of your cup
If nothing comes down then I'm forced to swim up
On the way upwards, the colors come back
But all along the bottom is blue, grey, and black
The darkness is cold and perception goes wrong
And the night seems to go on incredibly long
So I ask you why if I'm swimming by,
Don't you see anything you'd like to try?
Pantomime mixtures of heaven and earth
Jumbled events that have less than no worth
Time in the forest to dig under rocks

Or float in the ocean asleep in a box
Or sink just below all the churning and froth
And swim to the light source or fly like a moth
So toss away stuff you don't need in the end
But keep what's important and know who's your friend
So I ask you why if I'm swimming by,
Don't you see anything that you'd like to try?
If I'm swimming by
From the bottom, from the top

JAM-Boree

Although I am stoked to be in North Carolina where it is not in the 60s in June, I am bummed to miss this small festival in Western New York. There is so much talent around where I grew up and it is great to see it showcased. So every time there is an event that I wish for people to check out, I am going to put in on my page. Plus if I send people any more facebook events, they might kill me.

Although the site is down there, I want to showcase some awesome bands that will be there.
The line up is as such:

GIANT PANDA GUERILLA DUB SQUAD > If you have not heard of these guys.. you are not from Western New York. I owe them all the javalove that I have found at St. Lawrence University. They were my first Java show and I was hooked! Although they have undergone some changes over the last year, I believe they still hold on dub music. This a fantastic version of one of my favorite songs by them. Pretty signature of their sound.

THE BREAKFAST> Must have back at the Java Barn soonnnn
EKOOSTIK HOOKAH
THE FAMILY DINNER
UNIVERSE SHARK
ROSTER McCABE
THE FUNKY BEETS
AQUEOUS> I hope people who read my blog will like these guys because they are going to be blowing up my blog. The first time I saw these guys was on "SOULIVE DAY." God I love Buffalo. After leaving an amazing free show near Pearl StreeT [Where they did a whole Beatles jazz section of the show... AH!], I went to the Pearl Street Grille with Tom and checked out the after party. Aqueous was playing that night and honestly I think I scared the sound guy I was so into their umphrey's guitar sound that I insisted their sound guy give them a note telling them I wanted them to come to the Java Barn. I have been following or rather stalking this band ever since and now am helping booking. I think they are the next "giant something" as their recently released album is so nicely titled. Check them out and let me know what you think!

LITTLE MOUNTAIN BAND
EFFECTIVE RESOLUTION
DRIFTWOOD
PEANUT BRITTLE SATELLITE> Although I have been unable to see these guys live yet, they have been chosen as some of the finest musicians in Buffalo right now. They bring some real progressive rock music to the table.
WHITEWOODS
BIG MONEY

JAM-Boree

manifesto

Do you ever get that feeling during finals week or an intense time at school where you just want to spread music and discover music all the time instead of doing what you really should be doing? [I know Baird Meem knows what I mean.] Well I do. I find that besides facebook, music is my main stimulant to staying productive but also my main distraction. I have decided to make constructive use out of this issue. Whenever anyone asks me to stop blasting music while I am working, or stop devoting so much to time to the Java Barn or stop spending so much money on shows, all I can really do is turn my face away so they cannot see my glare. This has been my chosen lifestyle since the age of fourteen and basically, sorry I am not sorry family, teachers, and other responsible adults, I am sticking to it!
Do what you love and fuck the rest.

Well, the song that came on as I finished that statement was Jimi Hendrix. And all I can hear in the background as I type is the wind sweeping through my room from the waves. I would say some blues is perfect for a 1 AM writing session at the beach. Especially after my uncle was making me listen to Bob Seger on the porch of our house. Even my aunt scurried off the porch, and she listens to country music!

if you want any of the music that I post from youtube go to side bar and 'download that shit!'
